I have been trying out all the new features on the New Facebook interface that has just been launched. I have to say I am pretty impressed, for me its not going to take much time to get used to the whole new layout, its clean, crisp and user friendly. In fact, after 10 minutes of using it, I am already feeling ???at home??? with the new layout.

Benjamin Ling from Facebook had this to say (Benjamin is the Director of Platform Program Management at Facebook):

???By surfacing more recent and relevant information, and by cleaning up and simplifying the site, we think the new Facebook makes it even easier to connect and communicate with your friends.???

To see the new layout, you can test it out by clicking the link which should now appear on the top left of your browser when you are logged in on Facebook.com. If you don???t see that link, try going here: http://www.new.facebook.com/

I am glad it has finally changed, the site has been in need of a re-vamp for a while, and the new look is a breath of fresh air.

According to Mark Slee (the Product Manager for the new profile):

???The Wall now surfaces the most recent and relevant information???in the form of posts of stories???about you. We believe that having a constant stream of information, or ???feed??? is the most effective way to learn about and keep up with friends. Just as News Feed helps you know what is happening in your social circle, you can use the Wall as a way to give your friends the full story of what???s happening with you.

A big piece of the Wall is the Publisher, which enables you to publish content???photos, notes, your status, and so on???directly to your Wall. The Publisher works with most applications so that you have one place to go to add content to your own profile or to a friends???.

The profile is very personal; it???s important to us that everyone have control over their own profile. Along those lines, once you???ve published stories or posted content, you can adjust the size to promote the things you care about most, and demote the stories you don???t find as interesting.

One of our key goals of this project has always been to make the site simpler and cleaner. The new tabbed profile should help a lot in this respect, breaking your information into tabs by type. The Wall tab displays most recent and relevant information both about you and by you. The Info tab shows information about you that doesn???t change frequently. The Photos tab shows photos of you as well as your albums. The Boxes tab features all of your existing application boxes. You???re also able to add tabs for your favorite applications.???

Hey, so I caved and decided to get the 7 Figure Secrets program by Mike Filsaime, on the subtle suggestion from Ed Dale, that it is a pretty idea. I read the usual marketing pitch, and, dare I say it, was actually sold!
I have now got everything, and am pretty impressed to say the least.

Basically here is the deal…with some marketing magic written by Mike…

Back in February of 2007, Mike Filsaime held a secret Private Workshop at an undisclosed location.

Over 100 people paid $5000 for the Workshop.

He then took those DVD’s (Which now sell for $1297) and sold it out in record fashion in under 7 days to 2500 people. Since then… over 3000 people have paid for that information.

The success stories that followed have changed the face of Internet Marketing.

(Filsaime, along with his 37 Staff Members, will do $10,000,000 this year in sales and is credited with showing other marketers how to grow a 7 figure Business.)

BIG DEAL! Big Deal?

Recently, Mike hired a “TOP GUN” Internet Marketing Expert and Copywriter (That also attended the event.)

Mike Paid this “TOP GUN” $25,000 to watch all 16 DVD’s of “The 7 Figure Code” and condense it into a Masterpiece…

THE RESULT…

An 85 Page report, no fluff, with all of the Gold nuggets, Pearls of Wisdom, and action plans for you to get in a 1 hours’ read.

That’s right, what 100 people paid $5000 for, and had to sit through 3 days, you will get all of the information crammed into 1 report that you can read in 1 sitting.

=============================================
NOW HERE IS THE INSANE PART - IT’s FREE
=============================================

That is right, Mike Filsaime was going to sell it for $297.00 and was planning on selling 3000 copies in 7 days.

They are already printed, spiral bound, and sitting at the warehouse ready to ship.

But Mike has decided to ship it to you for…

*** Free ***

(Only While supplies Last.)

All Mike Asks is that you pay the shipping (about $8 or so)

That is it. You do NOT have to buy it. You simply tell him where to ship it and he will send it to you for…

nothing, zip, nada!

But… IT GET’S EVEN BETTER…

>>> Mike was going to upsell the 18 Full Color Process Maps. ($197 Value)

Mike hired the best Internet Marketing experts on Process Mapping, Rich Schefrens’ Strategic Profits, to produce these process maps based on each DVD… 18 in all.

Mike has decided to move the FREELINE even further and give you access to these for Free too (also VERY limited time)

And to prove that Mike has lost his mind (and has clearly landed on the North Pole of Mars,) he is also giving you is best selling

“The Butterfly Marketing Manuscript 2.0″ ($97 Value) for Free as well!

So here is a RECAP of what you get Free

- The 7 Figure Secrets Printed and Shipped to you Door
- The 18 Full Color Process Maps

I have been using flock for a little while now, and am pretty impressed to say the least. In fact, I urge you to give it a test run. Visit Flock.com to download it for FREE right now!

Firefox is a browser that I really really like, its fast, easy to use and the amount of great extensions available is insane! The main reason I originally stopped using the very crappy Internet Explorer, is because of the way it rendered CSS in websites I was working on. Basically it did, and in some instances STILL displays the CSS incorrectly, making your well designed websites look crappy! This is NOT a problem with real browsers like Firefox and Flock.

I wanted to make a comparison between Firefox and Flock, but I dont think I need to. For me, Flock has everything Firefox has, and can do more. As you know, I am very into Social Networking, and this is an element of the web that Flock has embraced by building social networking and other Web 2.0 features into its interface. Cool! Flock is also using the same architecture as Mozilla Firefox, so basically its Firefox that has been pimped out for Web2.0. Excellent for people like me!

Did you know that Flock was voted #6 in PC World’s Top 100 Products of 2008?

Social Networking and Media Services

Flock has the slogan “The Social Web Browser”, and they are not kidding…

Flock easily integrates social networking and media services including Facebook, Digg, Pownce, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr, Blogger, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail to name a few.

Cool things Flock can do:

Flock can indicate when friends have updated their profile, uploaded photos or other things.

Flock has internal features that allow simpler sharing for text, links, photos or even entire videos.

Flock has its own system allowing quick preview of online videos and photos, and subscription to video feeds.

Flock’s Feed Reader organizes Atom and RSS feeds.

Flock’s Blog Editor allows direct posting into a designated blog, along with being a blog reader.

Flock also allows for third-party add-ons, including a number of Firefox extensions.

About point six above, what is also cool about flock is that because it uses the same architecture as Mozilla Firefox, many of those Firefox extensions work perfectly fine in Flock! That is awesome! I still have to come across one that DOESN’T work, so far, I haven’t had any problems

Speeding up Flock

Yes, you can speed up your browsing experience! There have been some people who have had speed problems browsing with Flock. I am not one of these people, but I do have a solution for those of you who need it. Follow these steps to speed up Flock once you have installed it successfully:

type about:config into the address bar at the top and wait for page to load

in the filter type network.http

locate the strand called network.http.pipelining and double click it to change the value from false to true

Do the same to network.http.proxy.pipelining

Then locate network.http.pipelining.maxrequests - double click and change the value to 30 or higher

Finally, close flock and load it up again…

Now I just have to get over the guilty feeling I have from not using Firefox anymore!

Hey people, I was making affiliate links this morning, checking stats, and though this would be good to share with you!

What I am talking about is a lovely site called ClickAudit which I use all the time. I haven’t really researched online for other similar sites, as ClickAudit has been great and met all my needs, but if you have any suggestions…..

What ClickAudit does, is offer a service where you can shorten (or disguise) your url, just like Tiny Url. So basically instead of letting everyone know your link is an affiliate link, they only see the new streamlined ClickAudit link. Where Click Audit shines brighter than Tiny Url, is that you can login, and keep track of your links, with detailed statistics.

As a free member, you can add up to 10 links, which can be put under different categories. Each time one of your links is clicked, Click Audit will track it, the graphs and stats are almost instant.

“With your FREE ClickAudit Link Tracker account, you will be able to create and track up to 10 links with a maximum of 10,000 clicks per month.

If you exceed 10,000 hits, your links will still be redirected but they will not be counted in your statistics.”

In your admin panel, you are able to see how many clicks a specific link has got, as well as how many were unique. You are also able to easily reset the clicks back to zero, edit the link or delete it.

The Edit function for the link is great, because if you have plastered the web with your Click Audit link, and you suddenly decide to change to a different affiliate, or to a different destination, you are able to simply edit the destination of that particular Click Audit url in the admin area, and it works instantly.

Add the same url a couple of times, to get multiple ClickAudit links to the same location for use on your website, newsletter, blog etc., now you are able to see which areas of your marketing campaign are getting the most clicks, and therefore which is giving a better ROI.

How about downloads? Put the url for your download into ClickAudit, and track how many people download a particular file. I have even used it to track banner impressions, as well as clicks, on websites that don’t have a banner management system.

I really like the service ClickAudit offers, and highly recommend them. I will leave you with the list of points from their website:

Track your clicks in real time

Easy to use ad tracker

Shorten and track your long, ugly affiliate links

Protect your affiliate commissions from being “by-passed”

Dynamically edit your links

Change outdated affiliate links and ads dynamically

Use it for URL redirection>

Track how many times your eBooks, files, or reports have been downloaded

Track the number of clicks on links on your site

Track clicks on banners

Track clicks on text links in your emails, newsletter or ezine

Track all your ads and affiliate links

Track links to external sites and services

Track clicks on your links from newsletters and external web sites

Track which links are performing the best including cost per click

Save time, money and effort by identifying the best performing ads and links

24/7 online reporting in real time

Quickly see how well all your marketing campaigns are performing

So take the hassle out of tracking your links, use http://www.clickaudit.com, like me!

Just got my email from Michelle MacPhearson about her “30 Minute Backlinks” program that has just been launched!

What is “30 Minute Backlinks” I hear you say, well…according to Michelle…..

“30 Minute Backlinks is a set of video tutorials thoroughly explaining a previously unpublished method of getting hundreds of one way links to your site.

It shows, in step-by-step follow along detail, the 30 minute process of creating software and adding that software to online

software directories (some as high as 5, 6 and 7 PR). Those software directories will link back to your site. Everyone is happy - the software directories get additional listings to fill out their archives, and you get valuable backlinks.

You’ll learn how to submit your software to the directories in a way that literally forces them to link to you with your keywords and grows your site’s search engine rank for the keywords you are targeting.

You can create as many pieces of software as you wish and, in that way, compound your results. Each new software you create and submit will take about 30 minutes to make and submit for links.

You have creative control over the software you create and can ensure it’s up to your standards You will make software you’re proud to put your name on.

Every resource is point-and-click, fill out a form simple. You do not need coding, programming or other technical experience.

The “30 Minute Backlinks” Link Building Blueprint Is So Brain Dead Simple A Trained Racoon Could Do It!”

——————
Now I dont know about you, but I really like everything I read on Michelles Blog, and what I have received from her already is like gold. She really knows her stuff, and I encourage any web marketing people to subscribe to her feed.

More of Michelle’s awesome handiwork can be found on Social Media Daily, which is another goldmine for Social Networking ideas and information. Become a member, and get a free PDF file with excellent tips and advice.

Now what is even more cool about “30 Minute Backlinks“, is that you can make actually also make some money selling this product to your customers! Yep, there is an affiliate option, where you can make some dosh selling the program yourself.

I just got my email this morning from Michelle, which went like this:

“Hey Francois!

The Clickbank Gods shined on us!

They’ve approved 30 minute Backlinks at it’s $100 purchase price! What’s the mean for you? 50% commission (that’s $50/sale, whichever way you slice it).

—– THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW FIRST —–

1. This is a brand new product. It’s only been released to my personal customer list (and converted at 9.7%!) - which is cool, the market isn’t totally saturated.

2. There is going to be some *NOISE* about it next month. For this reason, I really do suggest that, if you’re going to promote it, you do so now. You’ll look like you’re ahead of the curve when everyone jumps on the bandwagon.

—– THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW SECOND —–

Your affiliate link: http://CLICKBANKNAME.30minlinks.hop.clickbank.net
(Replace Clickbank name with your Clickbank user name)

It’s an easy sell for internet & niche marketers since it helps them rank for their keywords - and everyone wants higher Google rank.

Throw up a blog post & email your list to get in on this before word gets out!

Best,

Michelle MacPhearson
30 Minute Backlinks

——
Now if you also want to make some money off this product, I suggest you go down and register at Clickbank asap!
I think this is going to be a great way to make money online, as well as an excellent product to use for getting links to your own website too.

One of the most effective ways to convert a customer is to focus on their emotions. Emotional decisions tend to override logical decision making from time to time. You want to tap into that to increase your sales.

Supermarkets do it all the time, and the big companies employ teams of researchers to study human behavior and how to increase sales through ???mind tricks???.

Some common real world store tricks are things like changing the location of items every couple of months, so that you have to scan the shelves to see where they have been moved. You might see something else that you ???need??? and buy that too. How about putting the premium products at eye level and, and the sweets and ???bad??? things at a level that kids can see and grab them. Ever wondered why the bakery is at the back of the store? That soothing smell of freshly baked bread is enough to pull you in from outside the store and drag you right through the isles to the bakery in the back. Aroma is a big thing to get right in a real world store. Ever removed some meat from the refrigeration and all of a sudden its not so ???red???? The lights in the fridges enhance the redness of the meat to make it look better. Ever noticed the music in the store? Its designed to make you spend, in fast food outlets its chosen to move you along quickly, while in expensive restaurants its chosen to keep you eating and spending as long as possible.

So before you slate me for bringing up some of these methods, go crap on your supermarket manager first!

One technique that online sellers often use, is to make an offer that sounds too good to be true. Now I am not saying lie to the customer, but if you can present the facts of your product in a way that SOUNDS better than they are, without lying, your sales conversion ratio skyrockets. Use words like ONLY, and LIMITED AVAILABILITY etc

Think Infomercials, think web, now think web-infomercial, this is the type of site that makes the big bucks. TV infomercial promotions use a few good techniques that can be adapted quite easily to be used on your website.

Targeted marketing is essential when making the alternative seem worse than it is

Focus on the problem that brought the customer to the website, while they were looking for a solution, and blow it right out of proportion. If your marketing is specifically targeted to a niche market, this wont be a problem. Your site basically needs to focus on why they are there (they have a problem), and what you can provide them (the ultimate solution to their problem) to remedy that problem. Create a sense of hope for the customer, if you can invoke this emotion, half the work is already done. You have no doubt seen infomercials on the TV where you can see blatant over exaggeration of the problem before the solution, this can be done online too. Tell them what they want to hear, within reason. Don???t overkill the idea, just plant the seed.

List testimonials stating how good your product or solution is

People like to think they are important, if you mention to an existing customer that you will need a picture, and would like some information about how the product has helped them, more often than not, they will be glad to do it. People also sometimes tend to do things that they believe will make others like them more. This is why some people often don???t complain as much as they should, why they do things they don???t really want to do, and probably why you will get your nice testimonials if you just ask.

The testimonials are where the sales happen. You have seen these sales pitch sites, and tv infomercials, there are always loads and loads of testimonials. If you are told something often enough, you believe it. This is no different in the infomercials and shouldn???t be different on your site either. Testimonials on your site should have a picture, and should focus on telling the story of the problem, and how your product was the best and only solution. The picture is to subconsciously make the human connection with the customer. Adding a picture to a testimonial makes it much more credible and believable, and makes the site more ‘human’. This is where the big boys play with the emotions too, with testimonials telling the visitor how bad it was before for them, the family, the business, and how life in general sucked. Then came your solution, and ‘almost immediately’ things changed for the better! Don???t forget to include how now, months later, things are still going extremely well, and they haven???t looked back.

NB: Don???t fabricate the testimonials! If you are getting any sales at all, then they should be easy enough to get, also try to contact the customer soon after they have your product, so as to reduce the risk of them giving a bad review. Make sure you edit it to slightly favour your product.

You need to always appear unbiased in on your site, it may even pay to list some competitor products (using your affiliate link), as other options for the visitor to choose from. If you do this, make sure that you put yourself forward as an authority, listing unbiased good and bad points of your own and other products.

Offer discounts, and create a sense of urgency

Many people love to get a deal, they will cut coupons religiously, and will even drive great distances for discounted items. Start your product off at a higher price, and bring it down substantially if the customer buys immediately. You now target the impulse buying part of their brain, and their logical mind which will say it is better to buy now and save, than if you buy tomorrow and pay double. Create a sense of urgency with the product, give them the feeling that this offer is not going to last long and they need to act quickly. People also like to ???save??? money, so if you offer 2 for 1, or buy 2 get 1 free etc, your sales pickup too.

Tell them to buy and leave little alternative

That???s right, flat out tell them to buy now, tell them they need to order immediately to qualify for the discount, or whatever offer you are providing. Make sure you have a quick and easy way for the customer to make the purchase, and make it the only thing they can do on the purchase page. I mean, even remove unwanted navigation from your purchase page, so that they don???t leave and look at your other products or information. Make the customer focus on paying immediately and then take them to the normal site with the full navigation.

Make the customer feel good

You don???t want the customer to feel awkward and uncomfortable once they have made the purchase. Totally eliminate the chance of customer ’second-thoughts’ by buttering them up once they have made a purchase. I am talking about the web equivalent of carrying their shopping to their car, and asking them to ‘please come again’.
Have a decent ‘thank you’ page, throw in a freebie if you can, send them an email thanking them and offering your help and assistance if they need it. There are loads of different ways, just choose a method that works for you.

Remember its a real person who makes the purchase

Ultimately its a real person who has the credit card, visits your site, makes the purchase, recommends your link, bookmarks your page, refers you to friends etc. Bear this in mind when creating your site. You are creating for a real person, of a particular mindset, specific to your niche, with a problem that has a specific solution. You have that solution, and you know what those people are thinking and feeling before they even arrive at your site. Just think about that when you create your site, and you will make loads of sales.

Offer a refund of some sort, make the customer feel safe

Even if a customer is unhappy, you can almost bet on it that most wont ask for a refund. As I said before, they don???t want you to not like them. Some are lazy and just never get round to it. Some blame themselves for making a stupid purchase on a whim and never return the product. The point is, that even if you sold junk, you still wouldn???t get 100% returns, although the word would spread that you sell crap, and your sales would probably stop altogether. Always offer a refund, it???s a safety net that makes the purchaser feel safe and protected, and much more willing to spend. The fact that over 70% of unhappy customers wont return a product is beside the point.

Be a contactable friend

Lastly, be visible, contactable, and open to the customers. Put a phone number, email address, support and contact information, privacy policy etc on the site. If you can, put up logos that give you more credibility. If the customer can see what you look like, it can really help with sales. Even better is to post a video of yourself online. Try to make friends with the visitor, and try to talk to them as a friend in your sales pitch. Its easier to get a sale as a friend recommending a product, than a sales person shouting a sales pitch to a customer.

Some websites really have a tough time getting ranked well on Google / Yahoo / MSN, most of the time its because they are not specific in choosing what keywords they want to be number one for, and then optimizing their site and pages accordingly. Well thats the way I see it anyway.

From my experience, I feel each page on a site can and should be optimized for a specific and different target key-phrase, in order to cover a wide range of related key words and phrases. A big mistake that people tend to make is that they concentrate on only optimizing their home page, and also try to cover ever conceivable keyword combination. Unfortunately the website usually then has a problem ranking well for any of the keywords, and doesn’t get much search engine traffic.

If you do a search on Google for a single word and you will see the amount of pages that are listed in the results run into the millions sometimes, because it is usually too broad a search term. Most people tend to use two or three word searches at least, so that they get good, specific results that are useful to them. You should think about this when optimizing your website, what phrase would you like your site to be listed number one for? Get into the head of your customers, what would they search for?

The best thing to do is to decide on the main and ultimate key-phrase that you want to target, then find all the sub-key-phrases that are related to that key-phrase. Now, build your pages with the home page targeting your main key-phrase, and the sub pages targeting the sub-key-phrases, making the content for each page as relevant as possible. Each page should be individually optimized to target a specific key phrase.

The content and information of your pages needs to be good to rank well on Google, especially so if you are targeting highly competitive key-phrases. If you want to out rank your competitors, your pages need to be more relevant than theirs for the same key phrase. Search for your target key phrase on Google, look at the sites of the first 10 results. How do they differ content wise from your site? Is there information on them that should also be on yours?

I am a firm believer that the biggest thing to be concerned about when getting ranked well on Google, Yahoo, or MSN, is RELEVANCE. How relevant is the key-phrase you are targeting to the content on your page? All the big search engines want to deliver the best possible results for each search term, so surely he more relevant your content is, the higher your site will rank, and if your site is the most relevant, you will be number one. I believe it is just that simple.

Things like link popularity and page rank, etc, do help a lot, but can never really beat relevance completely. Take a very extreme example, try and do a search for something stupid like ‘flying pigs’, and look at the results. What you will see is that your site is NOT number one, why, because it is probably not relevant to the search term. Now ask yourself, why are the home pages of Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Myspace or the Stumbleupon for example not number one in the same results page? If you think about it, those sites have thousands of inbound links, AND have high page ranks, yet they did not display in position one of the results?! How can this be? You know exactly why, you have always known, its because they are not relevant to the search term, and all the major search engines surely must focus on bringing the best and most relevant pages into the results for your search term, period.

As a website owner, you need to target a specific key phrase for each of your pages, and make that page the most relevant page for that key phrase. Now it has to be said that relevance to a search term is in itself relative, I mean if your site consists of a single paragraph containing your target key phrase, then it might be extremely relevant to the content. This approach though doesn’t sit too well with the big search engines, who are not ’stupid’, and will prefer a site with more relevant information to rank higher, so don’t even try and trick or fool them into giving you a better ranking. Your site needs to have a bit of substance to go with the relevance in order to perform well in the long run. If you are going to do something, why not try and be the best at it? Try to have the best and most relative information, and you will find getting to page one of Google, Yahoo and MSN a breeze.

If you had to take a look at the top website listings in Google, Yahoo and MSN, on average its the ‘fittest’ that appear at the top. When someone refers to fitness you normally think of gym, regular exercise, health food, well toned bodies, etc. Having a well toned body and being fit normally involves time, energy and a lot of hard work, and the same is with a good ranking website. The problem with a large percentage of people who want a better body, as well as with website owners, is that everyone wants a quick fix. Everyone wants the end result yesterday already, with the least amount of work, at little or no expense, and they want it to last forever! Well thats not likely to happen anytime soon!

When I say the ‘fittest’ sites appear at the top of the search engine rankings, I mean the ones that are normally working the hardest at it. How do you excercise your website you might ask, well, here are some things you could do to increase its fitness:

Edit / add content on your website regularly - search engines as well as real people will visit more regularly if the content is fresh.

Refine your coding, make it clean, fast loading, and web standards compliant - nobody likes a slow clunky website

Keep your site design and coding up-to-date with the website trends and ideas - again, keep it fresh

Target specific key words and phrases with each new page, and tweak it on pages that are not ranking too well

Run a newsletter that can be sent out to a subscriber base, publish it on your website as a new page too, combine it with an RSS feed if you can.

Market the website on social networks, forums, blogs, newsgroups etc - flat out tell people about the site

Run competitions, polls etc on your site, get the visitors involved and interacting with the site

Build the brand, associate your website with speed, service, prices, value, whatever you can, so visitors return to your site and tell their friends about it.

It is way easier to get and keep an ‘active’ website in a good ranking position on search engines because like people, fitter is better. Just as in the human body, if you neglect your website, it will suffer, slow down, and generally fade into a sad soggy, floppy mess that nobody finds attractive! The top sites normally have been designed in a way that is appealing to the visitor as well as search engines. These days your design needs to be done twice, once on the visual side of the site, the part that the visitor sees, and again in the coding of the site. Both of these need to be maintained, toned, and updated, so that they dont become boring, obsolete, and uninteresting.

Just like there are those horrible people who never have to excercise, and still look great, there are horrible websites that seem to do well on search engines even though they just dont deserve to be there. It all comes down to conversion of visitor to customer, sometimes a site may rank well, but not convert anywhere near as many visitors to customers as a competitor website that ranks further down on search engine results. This is why your site must focus on the visitor and their experience on your website, just as much as the search engines, and their perception of your website.

The bottom line is that you will find it much easier to rank high in search engines if your site is well toned and excersised regularly. Like with most excercise, quick fixes are short lived and not worth it in the long run. Often you will end up in a worse position than when you started, and in the case of your website, may have to outlay large amounts to get your website and its reputation ‘fixed’.

It makes far more sense to set a goal and steadily work toward it, continuously making improvements with the end result in mind. In the long run, your site will rank better, and you will find it easier and easier to outrank competitor websites.

Those of you who suddenly feel the urge to tone your bodies and get fitter, visit hot body training for some tips
